Ocarina Vs Harp by Lethalityrush Ocarina Vs Harp by Lethalityrush
In Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask, you had to remember (or look up) songs to play on the ocarina. In Skyward Sword, Link's instrument was the Goddess's harp. How do you play it? Oh you just swing your arm back and forth with the wiimote... Zelda would be so proud! Happycry revamp

P.S. The harp is actually a lyre, and the tones produced by it will follow the harmonics of the background music in the location it's played (according to zeldawiki).

Which instrument did you like better?

Never played a lyre in my entire life but I'm fairly certain there's more to it than just moving your arm back and forth. It's a pity that Nintendo didn't take advantage of that.

And then the Spirit Pipes you just get the notes on screen.
But I do like how the songs were so peaceful...

Ocarina, but the Lyre is fun because you have to play to the given beat

I've always wanted a real ocarina so I could play more than just Zelda songs, like "When the Cold of Winter Comes" from The Lord of the Rings, or maybe try the Yoshi's Island theme with an ocarina, which I'm sure would be quite impossible.

Ocarina all the way I've played both games and I found it better using the ocarina then the lyre the ocarina you could make all kinds of music even songs that weren't in the game plus the ocarina you could play out the whole songs before you learned them just for fun

Ocarina, without a doubt.
When I heard we would get an instrument I was quite hyped about it, as you could pretty much play any song you wanted on the ocarina.
I just felt dumb when playing the harp, wish I could've plugged in my guitar instead ...

((I actually have an ocarina at my house, and can play it fairly well, so I'd have to say the ocarina is my favorite.))

With my bad rhythm I could not play the harp at all in SS. I just strummed until Fi finished her song.

I'm not a nostalgic, but Ocarina > Harp. The ocarina is actually fun to use, while the harp is just annoying.

I liked the ocarina because of how you have to master the songs....
That and I've never played Skyward Sword.:/

Ocarina.

After a while, you'd just hit the notes at the same speed that the song played.

I own an ocarina and prefer it to the harp/lyre. (In the games, the ocarina requires more skill to play and you can play it whenever you want)

Sure there isn't any memory involved in playing Skyward Sword's harp, but can still be a bit of a pain to try to match the rhythm of Fi's circle &/or the villagers' arms in the chandelier side quest.

Well, when it comes to the REAL instruments, I would be at a stalemate. I already own an Ocarina, and can play it quite well. However because I do NOT have a Lyre quite yet, I would be more disposed to leaning towards the Ocarina as my favorite. However, in OoT, all the melodies of the Ocarina are quite beautiful (And they are in SS as well) but if I had a Lyre, I wouldn't choose between the two, as it is not entirely the ease at which the instruments are played in-game, but the quality of sound produced and the ease of playing in real life.

It would have been amazing if that instrument came with specific notes you had to play rather than just swinging the wiimote back and forth, it would have made for a great mechanic.

I can see where they were going with this...just kind of wish they, you know, finished it up a bit...
